Job Description
The Head of Technical Accounting / Accounting Advisory is an integral role within the Accounting, Reporting & Control team that is responsible for the integrity of the reported financial results of Virgin Media O2 (VMO2). We provide clarity, insight and advice to a varied list of internal stakeholders and external shareholders.
Key accountabilities include provision of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) technical accounting and accounting policy direction, assistance and advice on all relevant matters, as well as partnering closely with the leadership of the company regarding accounting policy assessments on any new contracts, products and business opportunities. The must haves
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent experience, with a proven technical accounting background
- Strong in-depth knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles
- Demonstrable ability to resolve complex accounting issues and transactions; formation and review of detailed accounting position papers
- Strong People Management or Leadership background
The other stuff we are looking for
We'd also love you to bring;
- Leadership role in setting policies and maintaining up-to-date compliance with both IFRS and US GAAP
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise, negotiate with, and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders
- A history in creating, negotiating and executing contracts to formalise optimal contract frameworks, scopes of works and commercial schedules.
- Provide flexibility to assist the financial reporting and accounting control teams with special projects, including mergers and acquisitions.
