The Lead Full Stack Software Engineer is a highly experienced practitioner and an outspoken advocate of state-of-the-art software development practices, developing software products with a broad toolkit of technologies and methods and with a strong and matured DevSecOps mindset, being able to tackle the whole software development cycle of designing, building, testing and deploying applications. Working in an agile environment and keeping up with the ever-evolving technical landscape the Lead Full Stack Software Engineer is a lifelong learner, a thought leader, a good communicator and someone who likes to think outside the box.

ABOUT THE JOB:

As a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer, you will either be part of a cross-functional team and together with your team you will own the software products from conception to operation, supporting them and their stakeholders in building great technology. Being an enthusiast, an expert practitioner and a thought leader in software engineering and software craftsmanship. Thanks to your excellent collaboration skills you will support your team in delivering the best answers to our customers’ needs and in taking over full responsibility for its applications, from design to operation. With your outstanding skillset for understanding, investigating and solving problems you take full ownership of complex topics or multi-faceted initiatives and outcomes spanning across the domain.

You strive for clean architecture, state-of-the-art implementation, a high degree of automation, and overall high quality with a customer-centric mindset. You select, and guide teams to use, the right tools for the job and thus solve the given business and technical problems efficiently. You show an advanced commercial mentality, focusing on solving business problems in the best way in close collaboration with stakeholders. You actively contribute to the overall engineering and architecture strategy for your area and/or domain.

You can clearly verbalise your thoughts/ideas and you take the initiative to translate ideas into outcomes. You are comfortable to represent TUI in various events, conferences, and meetups. You publish or contribute to articles, blog posts and thought leadership pieces on a range of engineering topics in your area of expertise. You are well-connected across the domain, within the broader TUI community and relevant Communities of Practice.

As a recognised thought leader in your subject matter area, you publish articles (e.g. on sites like medium.com, css-tricks.com or thehackernews.com) and are actively engaged in the open-source community through source commits and similar contributions. You are presenting to different audiences at internal and external events/conferences and are a regular networker, building useful expert contacts across the industry.

Being an expert, you actively and systematically share your knowledge, for example by mentoring junior to senior colleagues and supporting their professional development. This includes shaping and managing the technical training paths for engineers across the organisation. Together with the domain’s Practice teams as well as the Group Enabler teams you also will research, evaluate, and test new approaches, processes and tools and help teams to use them effectively.

You love to work in an international, multi-cultural team. You challenge constructively and have high expectations of yourself and others. You always drive for technical excellence, ownership and self-organisation at team and personal level. You love to learn and acquire new skills and put significant effort into keeping up to date with latest developments in your focus areas.
