This role plays an integral part in the delivery of our Palm Positive Plan- our global ambition for sustainable Palm Oil- with a particular focus on South East Asia supply chains. The Sustainable Sourcing Manager will bring a strong performance management approach and technical subject matter expertise to further the development and implementation of a deforestation-free supply chain while advancing respect for human rights of palm plantation workers and indigenous communities.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree or Masters in Agriculture, Sustainability, International Relations, Development Studies, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
  • At least 3-5 yrs experience of implementing sustainable sourcing programs with the private sector or within development organisations is critical. Preferably this experience was gained in a commercial environment with knowledge of supply chain management, the palm oil sector and in emerging economy environments.
  • Experience of delivering through others and working in SE Asia/ across diverse cultures as well as leading and participating in industry coalitions is preferred.
  • Willing to work with global time zones

What will be your key responsibilities?

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee the Palm Positive 3M process (Map, Monitor, Manage) working closely with the palm data analyst to deliver a deforestation-free supply chain through ongoing traceability, satellite monitoring and grievance management
  • Lead supplier performance management and adherence to our Palm Principles and Criteria through critical KPIs and regular performance meetings
  • Manage alignment and ongoing coordination with implementing partners, Including progress and budget reporting
  • Ensure maintenance of Mars' RSPO certification commitments and annual Chain of Custody Audit

PROGRAM DESIGN AND DEPLOYMENT:

  • Lead our evolving Palm landscape strategy and management of key landscape programs
  • Support scaling of our human rights agenda through deployment of key programs focused on responsible recruitment of palm workers and beyond

REPORTING:

  • Lead critical external and internal reporting processes on Palm Positive progress working with the palm data analyst to ensure data quality and completeness

EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT:

  • Represent Mars in key industry forums, driving breakthrough collective action In support of our Palm Positive ambitions (e.g. CGF, RSPO, POCG).
