Job Description
As a senior data protection manager, you will be part of a high performing, supportive data protection team on a mission to develop our data protection culture and practices for the good of our people, our customers, and our business.
In this role you will lead or support a wide range of data protection advisory and compliance activities, and you will operate at all levels across the business. Your focus will be on leveraging insights from our compliance monitoring program to develop new policies, standards, and organisational controls and to work with business units to drive improvements to our control environment.

The must haves
To be considered, you must have the following experience;
- Excellent working knowledge of UK data protection law (including Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and PECR).
- Substantial experience delivering data protection compliance programs in a digitally enabled business to consumer organisation.
- Exceptional communication skills with the presence and willingness build strong working relationships across and outside the business.
- Thought leadership with strong collaborative instinct to drive pragmatic achievable solutions.
- IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Experience of working with the Information Commissioner’s Office is desirable.
The other stuff we are looking for
As a senior data protection manager, you will;
- Support the implementation of our data protection compliance framework and program to ensure it meets all legal and regulatory data protection requirements and the organisational needs of the business.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews to identify issues and recommend actions or controls that improve our operational effectiveness and reduce risk.
- Produce compliance reports for senior leaders and operational managers and participate in our data protection governance, risk, and control committees.
- Review and develop policies, standards, and guidance to help the business comply with relevant legal and regulatory obligations and new technical developments.
- Develop and deliver data protection awareness training and materials.
- Provide expert analysis and advice on a range of data protection matters including data protection impact assessments, individual rights, and compliance risks.
- Collaborate with incident response teams to ensure privacy incidents are assessed, categorised, recorded, and responded to in line with our legal and regulatory obligations and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
