Machine Learning Engineer

Employment type:  Full time

4 days/week at home

A little flex time

Job Description

The aim of this role is to enable decision making and ultimately drive the growth and success of our Network Expansion division by giving the business trusted, data-driven ways of working.

The role of a Machine Learning Engineer is to build efficient, data driven artificial intelligence systems that advance our predictive automation capabilities. From creating tailor made programmes and algorithms that will help us extract value from our data to leading all processes from data collection, cleaning and pre-processing, to training models and deploying them into production.

The role will establish and develop machine learning operations frameworks and standards, including defining and embedding the infrastructure and services required for machine learning activities. You'll get the opportunity to build our machine learning strategy blueprint, advising on the different technology options and translating business requirements (both functional and non-functional) into solutions!

To be the perfect fit for this role you'll be skilled in statistics and programming with the ability to confidently assess, analyse and organise large amounts of data to solve complex problems, and work with multilayered data sets to optimise machine learning libraries and frameworks. We're looking for someone who's excited by problems within machine learning and can bring a good mix of technical delivery and consulting skills.

So, we build equity and inclusion into everything we do, from the policies we craft to the relationships we shape. We support and encourage you to be your authentic self throughout your application journey with us.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Experience with machine learning modelling, comfortable with a range of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms
  • Ability to design and maintain machine learning pipelines and architectures on modern frameworks to meet functional business requirements.
  • Hands on experience in using GCP technology in a production environment, as well as machine learning platforms (e.g., AWS Sagemaker, Azure, Vertex, Machine Learning studio)
  • Demonstrated consulting skills, including business partnering, requirements gathering, solution design, testing and project lifecycle
  • Confidence transforming data using Microsoft SSIS and dbt

The other stuff we are looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Knowledge and experience of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Tensorflow)
  • An interest in building AI applications, ranging from image recognition application to large language model based chatbots!

What's in it for you

Our goal is to celebrate our people, their lives and everything in-between. We aim to create a culture that empowers everyone to bring the best versions of themselves to work each and every day. We believe the most inclusive and diverse culture makes for a better business and a brighter world.

Next steps

If Virgin Media O2 feels like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a competency based interview.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you. Thanks for your patience in the meantime and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
