The Engineering and Maintenance Finance team is a function within our airline organisation responsible for €0.5bn Engineering & Maintenance cost base. The Engineering and Maintenance function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.

As Finance Analyst – Fleet Transitions, your focus will be to support the business during a period of significant change across the airline fleet with the continued introduction of the 737 Max aircraft replacing the older 737 NG fleet and in the strategic analysis on the long-haul fleet reporting into the Finance Manager – Powerplant and Fleet Transitions. A key requirement for the role is to be pro-active and enjoy problem solving to improve processes and manage multiple streams of work. Maintaining and adhering to the control framework to ensure accurate maintenance reserving and P&L forecasting. Delivering continuous improvement & simplification of key existing models and financial systems.

In this role, you’ll report to the Finance Manager – Powerplant and Fleet Transitions.

ABOUT THE JOB

As Finance Analyst – Fleet Transitions, you’ll be responsible for:

• As Finance Analyst – Fleet Transitions you will be responsible for the modelling on fleet transition activities for new aircraft entering the fleet, fleet extensions and exits. You will work with business partners in the Fleet and Engineering teams to ensure that costs of transitions are reported accurately and are forecasted.
• In addition to fleet movements, you will own the end-to-end financial management of costs related to the Auxiliary Power Unit component (APU) major overhaul programme across all airlines. This includes building provisions for the major overhaul events under the terms of the aircraft leases and management of the balance sheets.
• Support the creation of the optimum aircraft lifecycle model in collaboration with the Finance Manager and Aircraft Asset & Business Management (AABM) department based upon the inputs from both Finance and Engineering. You will do this by maintaining the Life Cycle and Reserve model inputs such as maintenance date, location and cost assumptions, as well as executing the accounting adjustments required to embed any optimisation decisions into our maintenance provisions.
• A key part of the role will be driving continuous improvement activities within the Engineering Finance Team, including any IT /Analytics projects in this area. This involves the constant review and evaluation of the processes in place as well as the closing and reporting activities.

ABOUT YOU

• Part qualified (or studying towards professional qualification of ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong analytical & presentational skills.
• Eager to learn and a born self-educator.
• Structured and coordinated and excellent attention to detail and accuracy, including the review of contracts.
• Adapts communication to match audience.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines ad proactively manage own workload.
• Strong knowledge of excel, including vlookups and pivot tables.
• Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
