The Role
ScreenCloud apps work just like your phone’s apps, but for the TV. We have over 70 apps to date, ranging from Instagram and Facebook, to live streaming, menu boards and calendar apps. As a Tech Lead, you will lead the design & development of new apps and features.
You will lead a team wholly responsible for each project it takes on, meaning Product/Design/Dev/QA all in the one group, with full power to shape its project.
You’ll help us drive technical excellence and foster team autonomy when it comes to building and maintaining our modern web apps, and work with others to understand the impact of your work and help shape what comes next.
And of course being a product for TV screens, the end result is also a super visual experience that will keep a curious technical mind engaged for a long time to come.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of high-quality web applications, ensuring they meet our high standards for scalability, security, and user experience
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define project scopes, goals, and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
• As a Manager in the engineering team, foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and help team members to grow their skills and careers
• Conduct code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality and system reliability
• Lead and encourage AI adoption within the day to day workflows of the team, using services like Github Copilot, ChatGPT and more specialised models to drive efficiency and innovation
• Manage the prioritisation of project needs, choose when to cut scopes and think ahead to de-risk deliveries for smooth, effective execution
• Oversee the release of new features, completing the end to end loop and ownership of the team from the idea’s initial shaping right through to landing in customer’s hands
• Lead by example, demonstrating a hands-on approach to problem-solving and technical challenges.

Requirements

• Expertise in modern web development frameworks and technologies (e.g., React, Node.js, TypeScript, serverless, API Gateways), with a strong understanding of web architecture and design patterns
• Proficiency in front-end and back-end development, with the ability to guide and make decisions across the full stack
• Strong project management skills, with experience in agile methodologies and tools (We use ShapeUp, not scrum, but it’s the ability to make deliveries happen that we’re interested in much more than the methodology!)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels
• A proven track record of leading projects to successful completion, on time and within budget
• A passion for technology and a continuous drive to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and innovation
• The ability to think strategically, solve problems creatively, and make data-driven decisions.
