About the role

The Transport Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the operational process and team within our Transport business. They will define and implement strategic initiatives to automate and optimise our operations that provide an improved Seller and Dealer experience on Motorway. A primary element of this role is to be responsible for the delivery of excellent customer outcomes, engaging the operation as we scale and grow.

This role will report to the Director of Transport and you will work closely with other Motorway teams (including Partnerships, Product/Tech, Sales, Dealer Support and Account Management).

This role requires the ability to think in a structured manner, plan meticulously, hire, motivate and drive results from the team and maintain a high level of service for external partners. Given the fast-paced and dynamic nature of Motorway, this role requires strong skills in prioritisation, communication and stakeholder management, a focus on data, change management and a general bias for action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scale and manage the Transport Operations team, including managing Team Leads.
  • Responsible for setting productivity measures, team and individual goals, and developing mechanisms to track and report on these.
  • Build mechanisms to streamline existing operational processes and interact with other Motorway teams. Responsible for driving ongoing improvements to productivity and results.
  • Operational lead working with Tech, Product and Partnerships teams to integrate key projects into daily operational processes and training the broader team/other Motorway teams on its use.
  • Own the strategy for Transport Operations, including headcount planning and business forecasting/planning.

Requirements

  • Proven experience and successful track record with building and managing a team, including setting up goals and mechanisms to track performance and productivity.
  • Strong operational skills given the importance in defining and implementing operational processes in this role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop, articulate and execute strategies with leadership, internal and external partners.
  • Ability to use data to forecast, budget and calculate financial impact of business decisions.
  • Experience in a customer experience role, with transportation / logistics experience a bonus.
  • Demonstrable experience in programme managing initiatives to ensure delivery of results on time and to a high standard.
  • Ability to work autonomously and cross-functionally in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment
  • Experience building, automating and optimising processes to improve team productivity and customer experience.
