Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. ​​Within Azure Data, the messaging and real-time analytics team provides comprehensive solutions and a robust platform that enables users to ingest high granularity signals (real-time & observability) and complex data, converting those into a competitive advantage in real-time for both end users and modern applications.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Messaging and Real-Time Analytics team you will help us achieve our mission of enabling no-code users to get intelligent insights and create automated processes to unlock the value hidden in data.

You will build new innovative real-time services, automate their life cycle through our world-class infrastructure, and maximize their impact by influencing and guiding the overall feature and product direction.

Responsibilities

  • Build large-scale core infrastructure and backend services for the product.
  • Design, develop and maintain product features using proven engineering practices and high quality code.
  • Create an architectural vision for key components of the data engine powering the product.
  • Drive key architecture decisions and overall direction for the product.
  • Liaise with the Product Management team on maximizing Customer value and ROI.
  • Be a safety net, a mentor and a decision maker for your own team, and contribute to the components jointly owned.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • ​Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficient years of hands-on experience in creating high quality design, code and tests.
  • Proficient years of experience with large-scale software engineering.
  • Proficient years of experience in delivering high quality production systems/services.
  • Proficient years of professional backend development experience.​

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • ​Master's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Application development and deployment experience with cloud services (e.g.
    AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Experience in C# and PowerShell.
  • Experience in working in DevOps model.​
