This position will be working on the Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Building Automation System (BAS) and IoT for new upcoming datacenter projects. This is a newer program with potential to expand quickly. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to be one of the pioneers of this program.

The role involves design of the EPMS/BAS controls network of electrical equipment used in existing/new datacenters. The position will be a Senior Industrial Controls Systems Design Engineer for the execution phase of the MS datacenters construction.

Responsibilities

The Senior Controls Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for developing hardware configuration, communication setup and testing of EPMS/BAS for additions to electrical power and mechanical systems in MS datacenters. Projects include the addition of new hardware within existing/new facilities, containerized datacenters, and other datacenter modifications. Create new or update existing EPMS/BAS software configuration, database, graphics, alarming, and notification for the new devices.

The Senior Controls Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for developing submittal packages that include network drawings and device lists, which will detail the equipment, network, devices, and communication settings needed to configure the system. This role is responsible for coordinating the EPMS/BAS design within our teams EPMS/BAS software and commissioning groups, the AE firms, equipment vendors, general contractor, and commissioning agents. Additionally, this role is accountable for ensuring the design EPMS/BAS meets project specifications and standards.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an instrumentation and controls engineer with leadership experience in electrical power monitoring systems for Data Centers.

A team player able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team implementing EPMS in Microsoft Data Centers globally and possess the skills to work in a fast-paced multi-project environment.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the network topologies and communication protocols associated with EPMS systems and related networks and has a firm understanding of electrical power distribution and monitoring requirements for mission critical applications.

Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excel at project management, be able to multitask and be familiar with advanced engineering and energy efficient operational processes/procedures as they relate to large data center environments.

Qualifications

  • extensive years of experience in one of the following areas:
  • Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) design and support.
  • SCADA design and support.
  • Working experience in Critical Environments such as Datacenters.
  • Export in developing TCP/IP and serial communication network design.
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • The ability to lead as the subject matter expert in EPMS/Control system design.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally.

Preferred, not required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Expert in troubleshooting communication issues of control system devices, such as EPMS devices.
  • Expert in EPMS device setup and SCADA implementations.
  • Expert in HMI development in EPMS like Schneider SCADA PSO and PME, Eaton Foreseer, etc.
  • Expert in Building Management Systems.
  • Experience working with communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, IEC61850, OPC UA, and/or SNMP communication protocols.

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
