Supply Chain is a function within our airline organisation responsible for the timely and most economical availability of aircraft spares to support the TUI operation and maintenance activities. The Supply Chain function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.

As Supply Chain Tooling and Equipment Team Leader your focus will be to develop, manage, and improve:

You will be responsible for efficiency and compliance within tooling control reporting to the Repairs and Operational Warranty Manager. In collaboration with Supply Chain Tooling Engineers, TUI E&M Tooling Engineer, Production Control and Centralised Purchasing and Repairs, you will ensure GSE, and tooling is correctly maintained and available IAW EASA and local HSE regulations. You will consult with and support the Supply Chain staff across the five TUI Airlines, identifying and promoting tool harmonisation to reduce unnecessary duplication across the group driving a consistent approach and minimising spend within this area. Actively pioneer continuous improvement in this area supporting all local requirements as relevant.

ABOUT THE JOB

As Supply Chain Tooling and Equipment Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for:

  • In support of Part 145 ensuring GSE and tooling is correctly maintained and available across the group IAW EASA and HSE regs and all regional related compliances and accreditation (UKAS, ILAC, BELAC, DAKKS).
  • Accountable for monitoring compliance with regional and departmental tooling and equipment related procedures; Health and Safety; local airport Regulations and Bylaws, regional compliance etc.
  • Manage internal and external audits relating to tooling and equipment and resolve audit findings and observations.
  • Manage tool related safety and incident reports with the local tooling engineers.
  • Operations Management – Lead coordination between the different tooling related teams, to facilitate effective, efficient, and timely operational supply chain management.
  • Manage and agree timelines with Base and Line Maintenance for the calibration of tooling and the inspections of GSE.
  • Full responsibility for tooling stock levels; right-sizing and distribution of tools across the Group as well as key decision maker in the loan/movement of tooling either externally or internally.
  • Responsible for sourcing & reviewing key tooling vendors inc. supplier review meetings, reviewing supplier performance and capability, price/contract negotiations.
  • Attend meetings in support of the relevant repair vendor manager as required with key tooling & GSE suppliers to review performance and intervene/escalate repair delays and supplier issues.
  • Oversee the review of poor-quality tooling supplied to base and line maintenance and any audit finding related issues.
  • Strategize and oversee the generation of revenue by loaning out company equipment.
  • Manage and oversee the receipt of tooling and ensure compliance in initial tool set-up, tree building, tool kitting, etching and storage of the tooling.
  • Full responsibility for the data integrity of tooling within the AMOS system and the lead in data clean-up related projects.
  • Overseeing the review and identification of obsolete/superseded tooling and support in the procurement of replacement or new tooling as required.
  • Planning, implementing, and monitoring the overall tooling strategy accordingly to maximize efficiency and productivity. Detect and identify process bottlenecks, suggest solutions for process improvements and implement these solutions in a timely manner. Understand how to get the best from our AMOS system, improving processes and tool control, availability of tools and better using AMOS for tool forecasting and scheduling of requirements.
  • Drive Cost reduction, savings initiatives, and optimum Service delivery performance whilst driving delivery in line with budgetary targets.


ABOUT YOU

  • Extensive background in aviation stores, tooling and GSE support at a lead position or greater is essential.
  • Understanding Boeing tooling requirements and Boeing technical publications is essential.
  • Understanding of regional tooling life limits and compliances with regulatory requirements is essential.
  • Experience in Change Management and Process improvement is essential.
  • Good knowledge of safety requirements around working at height, LOLER and equipment maintenance is desirable.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of engineering systems are desirable.
  • Understanding Human Factors within the maintenance environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrable capability of effective performance management (PROCESSES)
  • Excellent communication, presentational and negotiation skills across all management levels.
  • Proven ability to employ analytical tools to improve performance.
  • General financial and commercial acumen.
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and will involve some international travel.
  • Strong organisational skills and problem-solving skills.
